Privacy Policy
How Nikonyx collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data. Last updated 28 October 2026.
Controller. Nikonyx (“we”, “us”) provides an AI styling product at app.nikonyx.com and this marketing website at nikonyx.com. For privacy requests contact support@nikonyx.com.
This Policy applies to the consumer app, Friends Space features you enable, partner catalogue processing where relevant, and the marketing site (including the contact form). It is written for clarity and launch readiness. If you need a jurisdiction-specific addendum (for example GDPR Article 13/14 notices, CCPA disclosures, or a DPA for brand partners), request it from us—those addenda control where they apply.
1. Data we collect
1.1 Account & identity
- Email address, display name, authentication identifiers, and session tokens
- Language, country/region preferences, and account settings you choose
1.2 Wardrobe & media
- Photos and videos of garments or looks you upload
- Labels, categories, colours, and other metadata you or our systems attach to wardrobe items
- Saved outfits, favourites, and styling history in your account
1.3 Body & try-on inputs
- Optional body measurements and fit preferences you provide
- Try-on / reference photos you upload to preview looks on yourself
Visual try-on is a preview aid, not a guarantee of physical fit, size, or colour accuracy on every device.
1.4 Social / Friends Space
- Content you post, comment on, react to, save, or share
- Friend / follow / block / mute relationships and messaging you initiate
- Permission choices you set on posts (for example allow repost or reuse)
1.5 Marketing site & contact
- Messages you send via the contact form (name, email, subject, message)
- Basic server and security logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) needed to operate and protect the site
1.6 Technical & analytics
- Device type, browser, app version, crash/diagnostic events
- Aggregated or privacy-preserving product analytics where enabled
We do not require you to provide body photos to browse the marketing site. App features that need media only work after you upload or capture them.
2. Why we use data (purposes & legal bases)
Depending on your region, we rely on one or more of: contract performance, legitimate interests (secure, improve, and operate the service), consent (where required for optional processing), and legal obligation.
- Provide the product — wardrobe digitisation, outfit recommendations, try-on previews, outfits, and Friends Space
- Personalise styling — use preferences, feedback, and wardrobe context you supply
- Safety & integrity — prevent abuse, fraud, spam, and unauthorised access
- Support — respond to contact form and email requests
- Improve quality — debug failures and improve models/features with appropriate safeguards
- Communicate — service notices; marketing only where permitted / with opt-out
- Legal compliance — respond to lawful requests and enforce our Terms
3. AI processing
Some features use automated systems (including third-party model providers under contract) to classify garments, extract styling intent, generate recommendations, or produce try-on previews. We configure providers to process data for operating Nikonyx—not to sell your wardrobe or body media as a product. Outputs can be imperfect; you remain responsible for real-world dressing and purchase decisions.
4. Sharing
We share personal data only as needed to run Nikonyx:
- Service providers — hosting, storage, email delivery, analytics, customer support, and AI inference vendors bound by confidentiality and processing terms
- Other users — only content and profile signals you choose to make visible in Friends Space or similar sharing features
- Brand / catalogue partners — product identifiers and commerce signals needed to show shop pieces; not your private try-on photos as a default partner dump
- Legal — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security
- Business transfers — in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continued protection commitments
We do not sell your personal wardrobe photos, body measurements, or try-on media. We do not make private media public without an action you take (upload, post, share, or similar).
5. International transfers
We may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) with processors.
6. Retention
- Account and wardrobe data — kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backups, disputes, and legal duties
- Contact-form messages — kept as needed to handle your request and for legitimate security/audit records
- Logs — typically short-lived unless needed for security investigations
You may request deletion as described below; some residual copies may remain in encrypted backups until cycled out.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of wardrobe and body-related media (access controls, encryption in transit, least-privilege operations). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and report suspected account compromise promptly.
8. Your rights & choices
Subject to local law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. You can:
- Update many preferences inside the app
- Email support@nikonyx.com for access, export, or deletion requests
- Control Friends Space visibility and sharing permissions before posting
If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are in California, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA; contact us to exercise them. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
9. Children
Nikonyx is not directed to children under 16 (or the higher age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below that age. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Cookies & similar technologies
The marketing site may use essential cookies or local storage for language preference and basic site function. The app may store tokens and preferences on your device. Where non-essential tracking is introduced, we will provide notice and choices required by law.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy as the product evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where required (in-app, email, or site banner).
